Time-honored (and tasty) traditions continue in 2017
RENO, NV (Jan. 2, 2017) – Food, beer, music, art – it’s a Reno thing! The Eldorado Resort Casino, Silver Legacy Resort Casino and Circus Circus Reno are well-known for their exciting outdoor events that have become a part of Reno’s history year-after-year. The three Downtown properties are pleased to announce the dates for their 2017 season.
The Great Eldorado BBQ, Brews and Blues Festival returns June 16 and 17 as the unofficial kickoff to summer. The annual event is equal parts barbeque block party, microbrew tasting event and music festival with free, nonstop rock and blues throughout the weekend. Last year, over 60 microbreweries participated including the Eldorado’s own The Brew Brothers, Saint Archer Brewing Company, Pyramid and Magic Hat Breweries, Stoneyhead Brewery and Blue Moon Brewing Company.
The Biggest Little City Wing Fest celebrates its fifth year in Downtown Reno, June 30 – July 1. Each year, 80,000 attendees kick-off Fourth of July weekend by eating over 20,000 pounds of chicken wings slathered in sauce from over 20 local and regional wing cookers, washed down with ice cold beer and craft cocktails and to the tune of free live entertainment.
The 24-Hour Mural Marathon Competition will challenge qualifying artists from around the country to paint an original 14 foot high by 19’7 foot wide mural on the side of Circus Circus Reno in just 24 hours. In conjunction with Artown, this year’s event will be held July 14 and 15 and will award $2,000 to the first place winner. All murals will continue to grace the outside of Circus Circus until the 2018 competition.
Mama Mia! For 35 years, the Eldorado Great Italian Festival has brought the sights, sounds and flavors of Italy to Downtown Reno and this year’s event will continue to do just that on Oct. 7 and 8. The outdoor festival is a celebration of Italian culture and tradition when the Biggest Little City is transformed into Little Italy with a grape stomp, sauce cooking competition, wine walk, Italian farmer’s market, gelato-eating contest, an Italian buffet and free, live entertainment.
More information, including headlining entertainment, will be announced in the coming months. Stay tuned!
